October 23, 2010 Scout took first prize at our neighborhood Petsmart Howl-O-Ween Costume Party, this year dressing as Elvis.
April 3, 2010 Scout received a special request from Pam, the owner of Paws & Claws Pet Boutique and Grooming Spa, asking Scout to participate in the 2nd Annual Tucson Canine Classic Fashion Show. The crowd enjoyed the show, and seemed to get a kick out of watching both Scout and a small Chihuahua share the runway, both dressed in dashing tuxedos!
November 10, 2009 Scout attended the Arizona Greyhound Rescue's Greyhounds & Friends Fall Festival Fundraiser, where he walked away with top prize in the best trick and best human/pet look-a-like contests. Watch his award winning trick here!
Aug. 25, 2009 Scout's pal, Sawyer, did another write-up (complete with several photos) in his Tucson Citizen Online blog. Read all about it!
Oct. 25, 2008 If at first you don't succeed... Scout won first prize at our first Petco Howl-O-Ween Costume Party! Everyone loved the tux, but then again, who can resist such a handsome devil like Scout! (I think he swayed the judges by performing a couple of quick tricks)
Oct. 21, 2008 Scout won third prize this year at our neighborhood Petsmart Howl-O-Ween Costume Party! We slipped a bit this year, but Scout still got lots of attention and a $5 gift card!
Dec. 22, 2007 Scout's photo was featured in a newspaper article about pampered pets.
I can't imagine why they chose Scout for the story ;-)
Oct. 23, 2007 Scout won first prize at our neighborhood Petsmart Howl-O-Ween Costume Party! I received a $20 gift card; Scout got a blue ribbon and many compliments!
Oct. 19, 2007 Scout was mentioned in the Weekend Plus section of The Tucson Citizen!
Here's a bit of history on Scout. I adopted him from a local animal shelter where I'd found the 8 wk. old, 10 lb. pup. He'd been nursed back to health after almost starving to death. His previous owner's children failed to feed him as promised, so by the time the shelter got to him, he couldn't walk. While no one is sure exactly what breeds make up Scout, I use the description created by the assistant manager at his daycare- part Great Dane, part "handsome stranger"!
With a lot of love and training, Scout's grown into a wonderful pet and companion. He turned 3 years old in February 2007, and he now weighs in around 80 lbs. He loves riding in the car, visits to the dog park, and trips to our nearby pet superstore.
Scout has grown up with several high-tech accessories: an Invisible Fence to keep him in his yard, a Solo electronic dog door to let him in and out of the house, a webcam, and even his own email address! From what I've seen, Scout sleeps A LOT while I'm away, so you may not see him doing much. If you don't see him but hear him barking, he's probably either in the living room or outside. And yes, he does have a loud bark!
Visit his homepage for more photos, a couple of short video clips, and a diary.
